About Us
At Apna Farz Sewa Society, we believe in extending a helping hand to those in need, beyond just financial support. Our journey began approximately 6 years ago when our founder, Pal Kharoud, encountered a woman suffering from severe pain caused by worms in her head. Despite her agony, no one stepped forward to assist her. Driven by compassion and a desire to alleviate her suffering, Pal Kharoud personally removed the worms, providing her much-needed relief.
This life-changing experience ignited a passion within him to seek out and help others facing similar hardships. Within six months, he had treated several individuals with comparable conditions. One notable case involved a man who had been chained and enslaved by his own family for 12 years to prevent him from reclaiming his property. Pal Kharoud’s intervention not only freed the man but also restored his dignity.
Motivated by these experiences and the harsh realities faced by vulnerable individuals living in neglect and exploitation, Pal Kharoud devoted his life to rescuing vulnerable individuals and restoring their dignity, care and hope. Through his tireless efforts and hands-on involvement, he has personally led numerous rescue missions, transforming the lives of those who were abandoned, neglected, or living in unsafe conditions.
With the support of the community, Pal Kharoud established Apna Farz Sewa Society on his personal land in the village of Lachkani, Patiala. Our facility, spanning approximately one acre, serves as a sanctuary for those in need, providing care, medical attention, and a chance to rebuild their lives.
Today, the organization continues to operate with compassion and determination, working closely with communities to identify and support individuals in distress.
We invite everyone to join us in our mission by contributing one-tenth (dasvandh or 10%) of their income, whether financially or through direct support such as building materials, medicine, clothing, groceries, and covering utility bills.
Together, we can create a safer, more compassionate world and make a meaningful difference in the lives of the disadvantaged.
