A Stitch in Time: Rescuing Balwinder Singh

His Story

Balwinder Singh, once a skilled embroidery craftsman with a thriving business, saw his life unravel after his wife left him. The emotional turmoil left him mentally distressed, and he ended up living on top of a roadside toilet tank for the past 15 years. Despite his dire circumstances, Balwinder clung to a cherished photograph from his wedding, a poignant reminder of happier times.

We learned about Balwinder’s plight through his old friend, Mr. Ranbir Singh, who reached out to us with concern. Upon finding Balwinder, we were heartbroken by his condition. Ranbir had already taken the first steps to help by providing him with food, ensuring his cleanliness, and giving him clothes and blankets.

Our team at Apna Farz Sewa Society stepped in to offer further assistance. We provided Balwinder with a safe place to stay and began the process of rehabilitating him.

Balwinder’s story is just one of many that highlight the urgent need for support and intervention. At Apna Farz Sewa Society, we are committed to rescuing and rehabilitating individuals like Balwinder who have been marginalized by society. However, we cannot do this alone. We rely on the generosity and vigilance of the community to inform us of such cases and to support our mission.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to those who bring these cases to our attention. Your support is crucial in our efforts to rescue and rehabilitate these helpless souls. We invite you to join us in making a difference by contributing to our cause. Together, we can build a brighter future for all.
