Parkash (Parkasham) had been missing from his home in Poomalaipatti Village, Virudhunagar Dist, Tamil Nadu, since 2003.

His mother is R. Sundari and his brother is Prabhu. The two brothers had an argument over the use of a scooter. After the dispute, Parkash left home in 2003. His family had no idea where he had gone or how he eventually reached Amritsar, Punjab.

For years, his family did not know where he was. 

Parkash was kept in a house in Jasraur village, Amritsar for approximately 10 years. He was made to look after 35-40 buffaloes and clean their dung and waste. 

At night, his freedom was taken away completely. He was chained to an iron- bar bed and locked with a padlock, leaving him unable to walk. A security camera was installed above the bed so that he could be watched and monitored to prevent him from escaping.

On July 16, 2022, Parkash was finally rescued from the house of Sukhdev Singh, S/O Ajaib Singh, in Jasruar village, Amritsar.

After years of being separated from his family, Parkash’s identity and family details were tracked back to Tamil Nadu. His story is a painful reminder of how vulnerable people can disappear for years without their families knowing where they are or what they are going through.

Parkash was not just missing. He was a person who had a family waiting for him, a life that had been taken away from him, and a freedom that he deserved to have all along.
