By the roadside in Nabha city stood a fragile hut. Inside lived Sarban Giri, a humble sadhu who had no family, no possessions- only the company of his beloved dogs. They were his friends, his guardians, and the only warmth in his lonely nights. 

One day, an accident shattered his leg. With no money for treatment, he sat in that hut for more than six months- enduring pain, hunger, and the fear of never walking again. Passers- by came and went. The world moved on. But Sarban Giri remained in the same spot, his life, his life frozen in suffering.

When we at Apna Farz Sewa Society heard his story, we could not turn away. We brought him into our care, gave him food, shelter and most importantly – hope. Doctors performed surgeries on both his legs and treated other health problems he had silently carried for years.

Months later, Sarban Giri stood on his feet again. Today, he runs a small cart, earns his own living, and still keeps the same calm smile of a sadhu-only now, it’s a smile of freedom.

One act of kindness gave him back not just mobility, but his dignity.
